Julia Schilinski und Band
Fischhalle Harburg, Hamburg, Germany
"She sings, and her listeners feel. There is more than a voice - Julia Schilinski touches the soul," wrote a critic after a concert in Kiel. This sentiment runs like a golden thread through the entire body of the artist's work.
Whether engaging with the music of Greek composer Mikis Theodorakis, interpreting the tangos of Astor Piazzolla, or as on this evening, performing her own compositions and texts - an encounter with Julia Schilinski is always, above all, one thing: intensity and feeling.
Alongside the impressive richness and diversity of her recent albums, the "Grande Dame of soft tones" presents beautiful, intimate new pieces from work on her current album, which is to be released later this year. The album's title, "Begegnungen" (Encounters), lends its name to the programme on 27.09. in Harburg's Fischhalle. We await songs and chansons whose central focus is always humanity, and on this evening we encounter once more - wonderfully woven into the interplay of her long-standing band family - the abyssal and profound, the light and playful, the fragile, the despondent, and the magnificent within us.
