As an actor, cabaret artist and musician, Stephan Zinner knows this well: the toughest audience waits at home - his own family. Still, he gladly takes on the challenges of being a trendy soulfood cook, family chauffeur, chief Christmas tree buyer, DIY handyman and son-in-law. He doesn't always get applause for it, the risk of injury is high and the pay is low - but a smile is worth far more anyway. With one, you can even put up with the world outside, full of blinkered people rushing towards self-optimisation.

Zinner's short stories tell of small victories and spectacular everyday failures between stage, hardware store and family table. Carried by the rustic sophistication of a brilliantly entertaining performer, they come together in a magnificently illustrated book, with artwork by Florian Mitgutsch.
