The Ruhr is Mine!

A children's music theatre for the whole family

Why are there slag heaps, collieries and all these stories that seem to linger everywhere? What did mum, dad, grandma and grandpa used to do - and what does any of it have to do with me?

"The Ruhr is Mine!" takes children on a journey of discovery through their own home region - and invites adults along for the ride. The show weaves together past, present and future to make one thing clear: children are part of this story. Today. And tomorrow.

Join Kira, Sam and Jörg on a musical journey through the Ruhr - from the roots of coal mining to a future we shape together. This adventure makes the case that what truly lasts isn't recordings or click counts, but the moments we share with each other.

On stage, a Ruhr comes to life that sounds, speaks and moves. Live music created in the moment, instruments in plain sight, and songs that need no explanation - they go straight to the heart. Professional singers and actors meet children and adults as equals, turning theatre into a genuine encounter. There is interaction, singing and laughter.

What makes it especially moving is the shared experience: children asking questions, parents telling stories, grandparents recognising familiar places. Generations sitting side by side, listening, laughing, singing - and realising how much connects them. The specially composed song "Zuhause" (Home) captures it perfectly: a sense of belonging grows where people experience things together.

A theatre show that stays with you long after - on the way home, at the kitchen table, at the next get-together, before the next birthday party. "The Ruhr is Mine!" is also the perfect gift: for birthdays, for Christmas, for time spent together.

Because the children growing up here are the ones who will carry our stories forward.
