Jörg Achim Keller and the hr-Bigband go way back. He served as the band's principal conductor until 2008 and has returned as a regular guest ever since. Even as a student he was writing music for Peter Herbolzheimer's Rhythm Combination & Brass. For decades he has composed for nearly every major European big band. He is looking forward to working with the MA Bigband students, who will share the stage with the hr-Bigband in this concert format.

The MA Bigband programme at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Frankfurt (HfMDK) regularly gives students the chance to learn from leading figures on the international music scene. In the "PLAY!" series, the hr-Bigband shares the stage with those students - this time under the baton of Jörg Achim Keller. He is a versatile arranger and conductor who has worked with big bands, orchestras and large-scale pop productions alike. His arrangement of material by free jazz legend Ornette Coleman, written during his tenure as principal conductor of the hr-Bigband, remains a highlight. He has also orchestrated film scores, including the comedies about the "7 Dwarfs" by and with Otto Waalkes. See what he brings to the students this time.
