READING: "Bacteria - The Hidden Heroes" — Hugendubel Cottbus, Cottbus

Peter Wohlleben reads from his latest book "Bacteria - The Hidden Heroes" at the Hugendubel bookstore in Cottbus.

In the book, Wohlleben shows that bacteria are far more than everyday helpers: they live not only on our skin, tongue, and in our intestines, but in every cell of our body - and control us there according to their own needs. They produce hormones that influence our mood, motivate us to exercise, affect the weather, and can play a role in addressing the climate crisis. Wohlleben, author of the bestseller "The Hidden Life of Trees", guides us through this realm of invisible organisms - with scientific rigor and clear accessibility.

Peter Wohlleben, born in 1964, studied forestry and worked for over twenty years as an official in the state forest administration. In 2006, he left his position and took over as a forester a 1,200-hectare forest area in the Eifel, where he established an ecological forestry operation. In 2016, he founded the Forest Academy; he is also host of the podcast "Peter and the Forest" and participates in the study program "Socio-Ecological Forest Management (SÖW)", which launched in autumn 2024 at the University for Sustainable Development Eberswalde (HNEE).
