The murder of Zeus has driven a wedge between Briar and Phobos. While he cannot bring himself to admit that he is secretly relieved by Zeus's death, Briar continues to hide from him that the father of the gods was only the beginning. Phobos's apparent hunger for power throws the gods into turmoil and makes both him and Briar targets. At the same time, they must keep up the facade of a perfect couple in love, to make it look as though Phobos killed Zeus purely out of overwhelming emotion. Meanwhile Briar is already planning her next move - but with the entire Gilded Palace in uproar, she needs allies more than ever, even as the whole world seems to be against her.

About the author:
Somewhere between Narnia and Westeros, Emily Bähr lives in magical Northern Ireland, where she works as a graphic designer to support herself and her cats. A self-confessed nerd, she loves science fiction, going to the cinema, and Pokémon, and would move to Mars at the first opportunity. Since that seems unlikely, she escapes into the fantastical worlds in her head, writing under cover of night.
