Nele Palmtag: Hört mal! - Wild Friday with the World's Largest Kamishibai (ages 5+)
Literaturhaus Freiburg, Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany
"You can all get lost!" Excuse me? Nobody is quite sure what the man in the checked shirt actually shouted. So everyone makes their own sense of it: the hairdresser figures he wants her to sweep up. The jogging group is convinced he's telling them not to give up! Or does he urgently need to get to Norway?
In "Hört mal!" (Kunstanstifter, 2025), author Rike Drust and illustrator Nele Palmtag play a raucous game of Chinese whispers in a lively, colourful street scene - and make you want to join in with the rhymes.
Picture books tell simple stories full of wit, poetry and encouragement. Our picture book festival celebrates this versatile medium from June to October, inviting children and families to discover beautiful book art in large format with the world's largest Kamishibai.
