Manon Cavallini knows what she wants - and when the famous singer sets her sights on something, she gets it. Over the course of the operetta, we meet no fewer than six of her former husbands or lovers. Her current admirer is a young man named Raoul. Young Lucy is also in love with Raoul, and she begs Manon to give up the eligible bachelor for her sake.

What Lucy doesn't know (and isn't meant to): Manon is her mother. And in that role, she now pulls every string to make her daughter happy - while making sure she herself doesn't miss out.
