An actor and author in his mid-fifties hits a wall: a stroke, a move to restless Berlin, and a writing block that won't lift. He retreats to the Baltic coast to stay with his 86-year-old mother in the countryside. While the son desperately seeks rest, his mother chops wood, rides a lawn tractor, and swims in the icy sea despite the jellyfish.

Back in the place where he grew up, the author finds a way out of his crisis - and turns the experience into a new novel. What his time at a provincial theatre has to do with any of this remains, for now, an open question.
