Ingeborg Bachmann: Two People Are in Me - An Evening with Andrea Stoll
Literaturhaus München, Munich, Germany
FOR THE 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF INGEBORG BACHMANN'S BIRTH
Reading: Cathrin Störmer (Residenztheater)
Moderation: Susanne Becker (ZDF)
She was an artist and an early media star, celebrated to this day as an icon of modern literature: Ingeborg Bachmann. Her work has repeatedly been overshadowed by personal tragedies, myths, and assigned roles. Yet the author herself insisted on a strict separation between life and work. Bachmann expert Andrea Stoll now reframes this picture: in her brilliantly written biography (Piper), she clarifies how powerfully life entered Bachmann's texts. Recently published letters and diaries reveal a spiral of self-presentation and self-destruction, bringing us closer to this exceptional poet than ever before.
