SWR NEWJazz Meeting: Camila Nebbia
Kulturzentrum dasHaus, Ludwigshafen, Germany
19.7 €
The SWR New Jazz Meeting was launched in 1966 by Joachim Ernst Berendt, jazz editor at Südwestfunk at the time. His idea: give improvising musicians a week in a radio studio to exchange ideas and develop new work, then share it with a live audience.
Over six decades, the series has hosted Albert Mangelsdorff, Don Cherry, Irène Schweizer, Norma Winstone, Anthony Braxton, Django Bates, Joachim Kühn, Sylvie Courvoisier, Rabih Abou-Khalil, Steve Lacy, George Lewis, Ikue Mori, Ingrid Laubrock, Melissa Aldana, and many others.
For the 60th anniversary edition, Berlin-based Argentine saxophonist and video artist Camila Nebbia will realise a new project: "only the stones along the path told me the truth of reality" - premiering at the Enjoy Jazz festival.
