Women in Music History
Duo Amabile
Paula Breland - clarinet, Anna-Katharina Schau - accordion

"Sisters are doin' it for themselves" - the well-known Eurythmics song could just as well serve as the motto for this evening. It stands for the feminist efforts and movements of recent decades. For centuries, women have played a decisive role in shaping music history, yet their works were frequently pushed aside or forgotten altogether.

With their programme "Feminine Soundscapes", Duo Amabile invites audiences to explore the significant contributions of female composers across different eras. From the medieval mystic Hildegard von Bingen through Romantic figures such as Clara Schumann and Fanny Mendelssohn-Hensel, to the modern voices of Nadia Boulanger, Ester Mägi, and Graciane Finzi - the evening spans an impressive range of women's musical creativity.
