A musical-scenic reading based on the novel of the same name by Joanne Harris
sagas.ensemble GmbH Stuttgart. Featuring Ann-Kathrin Kramer, Harald Krassnitzer and Les Manouches du Tannes. Text adaptation, production and direction by Martin Mühleis
The 2026/2027 theatre season in the Großen Saal opens with a special performance: the well-known acting couple Ann-Kathrin Kramer and Harald Krassnitzer (who happen to live not far from Leverkusen) bring a beguiling and moving fairy tale for adults to the Forum. In a small village in the south of France, Vianne Rocher - a widow and single mother - opens a pâtisserie on the church square, a little sanctuary of the finest chocolates. For the village priest, curé Francis Reynaud, this kind of "temptation" is utterly unacceptable. He strictly forbids his parishioners any contact with the young woman and becomes her chief adversary. Two ways of life, as different as they could possibly be, collide in a thoroughly entertaining fashion. Together with four virtuoso musicians, Kramer and Krassnitzer bring the story to life - and you could almost swear you smell sunshine, lavender and chocolate in the theatre...
