Amadeus Wiesensee piano - Nina Gurol piano

Pianists Amadeus Wiesensee and Nina Gurol have built an evening around the dialogue between music and the spoken word. At its heart is Viktor Ullmann's melodrama for speaking voice and piano "Die Weise von Liebe und Tod des Cornets Christoph Rilke", set to texts by R. M. Rilke - one of the last works Ullmann composed in Theresienstadt, shortly before he was murdered in Auschwitz.

Excerpts from the melodrama alternate with Schubert's piano sonatas. The programme places both works in conversation and asks what music can do in the face of fear, loss, and the unspeakable.
