Der Letzte löscht das Licht (UA) - Live Radio Play Based on the Graphic Novel by Tobias Aeschbacher
Theater in der Garage, Erlangen, Germany
A live radio play based on the graphic novel by Tobias Aeschbacher
A graphic novel like a gangster film - or a Shakespearean tragedy co-written by Tarantino. In cooperation with the Internationaler Comic-Salon Erlangen, schauspiel erlangen brings Aeschbacher's brilliant comic novel to life as a fast-paced live radio play packed with verbal sparring, gunfights, and declarations of love.
Three small-time crooks break into a run-down apartment building. They're looking for a bag - and instead find a cat, a gangster couple, a cannabis plantation, a good-natured voyeur, a sentimental hitman, an assortment of weapons, power cuts, and death. What starts as a breezy gangster romp turns into a cleverly told tragicomedy about a bunch of more-or-less cool criminals, each of whom meets their end in a suitably absurd fashion. Driven by exquisite stupidity and dubious morality, the heroes of this story prove touchingly vulnerable when their final moment arrives. In the end, everyone is dead. Like Shakespeare. Or Tarantino.
Eike Hannemann, well known to Erlangen audiences through productions such as "Die Leiden des jungen Werther" and "Per Anhalter durch die Galaxis", transforms Aeschbacher's comic novel into gripping audio theatre - with visuals included.
