Description was written before the event

An Italian seaside resort in the 1920s: a German family on holiday encounters the mysterious hypnotist Cipolla, who increasingly blurs the line between entertainment and manipulation.

What begins in Thomas Mann's novella as a dark parable about the seductive power of authoritarian rule becomes in Theater Atelier Stuttgart's production a study of everyday intolerance.
