NDR Bigband + Omar Sosa
Tauberphilharmonie Weikersheim, Germany
22 €
A concert that bridges continents, genres and sonic worlds: with "Raices unidas" (united roots), Cuban pianist Omar Sosa and the NDR Bigband are collaborating for the third time.
For years, Sosa has explored the musical traditions of Latin America, the USA and Africa, shaped by the Afro-Cuban Santería religion. His conviction that much of Central and South American music traces back to African origins comes through clearly in his compositions.
The NDR Bigband was founded in Hamburg in 1946 as a dance orchestra. Sixty years on, its 17 musicians are making their first trip to Weikersheim - after tours across Europe, North and South America, and Asia. For one evening, they swap their usual home stage, the Elbphilharmonie, for the TauberPhilharmonie. Come on in - celebrate with us this cultural connection, the joy of music, and the jazz opening of the 2026/27 season!
Omar Sosa - composition and piano
Jaques Morelenbaum - arrangement
Steffen Schorn - conductor
