Musical Sunday - Johann Sebastian Bach: Goldberg Variations BWV 988 — DAI Heidelberg, Heidelberg
Description was written before the event

Composers, their works, their lives and their era - examined up close. That is what Musical Sunday is all about. In a relaxed conversation, writer Marcus Imbsweiler and composer Timo Jouko Herrmann take a detailed look at a piece of music: they recount its origins, bring musical examples, and explain the score. They also clear up a few misconceptions along the way - for instance, whether Salieri actually had anything to do with Mozart's death. (He didn't.) With genuine expertise, deep devotion to music, and always "con brio", Imbsweiler and Herrmann present works from a wide range of genres and periods. That is why Musical Sunday is a DAI Heidelberg programme full of "premieres"!

Timo Jouko Herrmann and Marcus Imbsweiler are two enthusiasts with their own distinctive way of talking about music. Imbsweiler has published novels and stories about composers from Haydn to Shostakovich. Herrmann is a guest conductor of the Heidelberger Sinfoniker; his rediscovery of the song of joy "Per la ricuperata salute di Ofelia", composed by Salieri, Mozart, and Cornetti, brought him international recognition.
