The grand closing reading
Following the Oxford model, Goethe University established a visiting professorship in poetics in 1959. Accompanied by a seminar, the poetics programme offers students and the city's public the opportunity to understand literary works from the perspective of a reflective writer. The lectures provide a chance to participate in literary-theoretical processes and reflections. Ingeborg Bachmann began the series. Many renowned authors followed, including Christa Wolf, Ernst Jandl, and Judith Hermann. Under the title "Neben sich selbst hergehen. Denken in Avataren", Joshua Groß now delivers three lectures (09., 16., and 23.06.2026, 18:00) at the university about his work. He recently published the novel "Plasmatropfen" (Matthes & Seitz). At the closing event in Literaturhaus, he reads from literary texts of his choice. The conversation with Joshua Groß is led by author and literary scholar Anna Yeliz Schentke.
An evening in cooperation with Goethe University Frankfurt and the partners of the Frankfurter Poetikvorlesungen.
