She She Pop & Junge Deutsche Philharmonie - Frei_Spiel X - Das große Ganze

The biennial concert format Frei_Spiel stands for what defines the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie: a programme shaped through collective discussion, collaborations with other art forms, and the freedom to embrace artistic experimentation.

For this production, the performance collective She She Pop turns its gaze on the orchestra - a monstrous collective body, many-armed, breathing from multiple lungs, highly expressive, and at the same time a polyphonic creative community. Unlike She She Pop, the musicians work in a highly specialised and strictly divided way, alternating their gaze between the conductor and the score - notated by an untouchable genius, to be realised precisely and in the correct order.

Where does the euphoria released by this collective practice come from? What is its price? What happens to inner contradictions, idiosyncrasies, inhibitions, personal doubts - and where do they resonate?

Alongside works by Diana Syrse, Darius Milhaud, and Grazyna Bacewicz, both collectives jointly develop performative scores in which the collective body of the orchestra and the individual perspectives of the musicians enter into explicit dialogue. A self-experiment that makes audible the tension between service and expression, between individual task and collective freedom.
