When M. Byrd became a father for the first time, he found himself in a place entirely unfamiliar to him.

Fully absorbed in the present moment, the German singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer channels that energy into his 2025 album A Better Place [Nettwerk].

The journey began when he was a music-obsessed kid in Germany. In 2020 he introduced his sound with the single "Mountain", which crossed 10.9 million Spotify streams and paved the way for the Orion EP. That release brought another fan favourite, "Morning Sun", clocking 6.2 million streams. His first full studio album, The Seed, followed in 2023, earning praise from tastemakers and outlets including EUPHORIA., 1883 Magazine and OnesToWatch.

Around the same time, fatherhood turned his world upside down - in the best possible way. It split the making of A Better Place into two distinct halves, mirrored physically by his young family's move from Hamburg to Denmark. "There are all these songs from before the birth and all these songs from after," he says. "I could reflect on myself and what was happening. I was saying goodbye to many friends in Hamburg and starting a new life in Denmark. All these changes were taking place, and I really tried to capture them in songs so I could carry them with me forever."

In the end, M. Byrd delivers the soundtrack to perhaps the most universal experience of all: change.
