Wagner-Café - The Sound of Dresden - Ernst von Schuch between Wagner and Strauss

Ernst von Schuch shaped Dresden's musical life like few others: from 1872 as Royal Court Kapellmeister, he wielded his influence to bring Wagner's operas to Dresden - and conducted the world premieres of Richard Strauss' Feuersnot, Salome, Elektra, and Rosenkavalier.

On the occasion of his 180th birthday, Martina Damm, Schuch's great-granddaughter and chair of the Schuch Family Foundation, presents her great-grandfather's legacy. The following concert features songs by Wagner, Schuch, Felix Draeseke, and Strauss, performed and hosted by baritone Bernhard Hansky, accompanied by Prof. Schütze on piano.
