Flower girl Eliza Doolittle catches the ear of phonetics professor Henry Higgins on the street - her coarse dialect is impossible to ignore. Higgins makes a bet with his friend Colonel Pickering: within six months, he will use speech training to turn the "guttersnipe" Eliza into a proper lady of society. Eliza takes him up on the offer and takes her chances in polite company. After a rocky start, the experiment seems to be working - until love complicates everything...
