1927, Puerto de La Cruz, Tenerife. At the Hotel Taoro, the already celebrated writer Agatha Christie faces another sleepless night. A crumbling marriage and the recent death of her mother have shaken her grip on reality. She is on the verge of doing something reckless, just to make the pain stop. Then an unexpected visit from a mysterious stranger sends events in a dramatic new direction.

2026 is Agatha Christie year: the 50th anniversary of her death fell on 12 January, and exactly 100 years ago, in December 1926, her strange eleven-day disappearance gripped the world - the New York Times covered it, and Arthur Conan Doyle joined the search. A Netflix series, Kenneth Branagh's film adaptations, and productions of "The Mousetrap" and "Murder on the Orient Express" on German stages all show that Agatha Christie is very much alive.
