What do Frederick II and Virginia Woolf have to do with freedom? Is freedom a promise - or does it inspire fear? What does it mean today, and how has our understanding of it shifted over time? Drawing on documentary, historical and fictional material, the production weaves together theatre, music, video art and performance into a layered exploration of the concept of freedom.

Theater Weites Feld develops projects on contemporary themes, drawing from the "wide field" of experiences and stories of people in a given place. Topics such as "30 years since the fall of the Wall", "home", "visions of the future", "1,700 years of Jewish life in Germany" and "freedom" inspire the ensemble to create plays, readings and TanzTheater productions. The company is based in rural Brandenburg and since 2022 has had its own venue - Kulturstall Netzen.
