Wings Beneath the Skin. Freedom - A Theatrical Search for Traces
Zimmerbühne, Potsdam, Germany
Theater Poetenpack presents: Theater Weites Feld
What do Frederick the Great and Virginia Woolf actually have to do with freedom? Is freedom a promise, or does it inspire fear? What does freedom mean to us today, and how has our understanding of it shifted over the centuries? Documentary, historical, and fictional material comes together - through acting, music, video art, and performance - into a layered narrative. A search for traces around the concept of freedom.
Theater Weites Feld develops projects that engage with current issues and tells stories drawn from the "wide field" of experiences and lives of local people. Themes such as "30 years since the fall of the Wall", "home", "visions of the future", "1,700 years of Jewish life in Germany", and "freedom" inspire the ensemble to create plays, readings, and TanzTheater productions. The company is rooted in rural Brandenburg and reaches both rural and urban audiences. Since 2022 it has run its own venue, Kulturstall Netzen.
