Eh ichs vergesse — Herkuleskeule, Dresden

Eh ich es vergesse

After 50 years at the Herkuleskeule, he is often called a founding pillar of cabaret - a label he dislikes, because it sounds "as if I had been there at the Big Bang". The launch of his book "Eh ichs vergesse" was met with a standing ovation. After the premiere, the DNN called him a "clear-eyed analyst and virtuoso of language". "Some of my texts", he says, "only come alive when they are performed." So he brings Birgit Schaller to his side - celebrated in her solo shows as a "comedic, singing force of nature". An evening that swings between loud laughter and quiet melancholy. The SZ called Birgit and Wolfgang Schaller the "dream couple of German cabaret. He gives her his best texts and she turns them to gold on stage."

"Eh ichs vergesse" has been published by Eulenspiegelverlag and is available signed at the Herkuleskeule. Dieter Hildebrandt expressed his "deep admiration" and wished him "the lasting trust of his followers, of whom I am one." Werner Schneyder saw in him "a man torn between dreamed-of utopia and reality, between defiance and resignation, between steadfastness and being moved", and Peter Ensikat described his satire as one "where the jokes stop being harmless." Over 51 years as a writer at Dresden's Herkuleskeule cabaret and 30 years as a columnist for the Sächsische Zeitung, Wolfgang Schaller has become one of the best-known authors in the field. Many of his cabaret texts and columns have long since become classics. Awarded the Star of Satire on the Cabaret Walk of Fame in 2009 and named Dresden's Person of the Year in 2018, Schaller has made himself a gift with this book - and the publisher is confident it will be one for readers too.
