EURE FORMATION and Theater Lukas Ullrich - Help, the Herdmanns Are Gardening!
Renitenztheater, Stuttgart, Germany
What happens when the worst kids in the world are suddenly put in charge of designing a school garden?
The notorious Herdmann children are loud, chaotic, unpredictable - and definitely not your typical eco-heroes. Yet Charlie and Bosse are supposed to work with them to create a model teaching garden: straight paths, tidy beds, clean structure. A sustainable school project straight out of the textbook.
Then the Herdmanns show up.
And suddenly everything in the garden grows differently than planned.
Nettles become "secret soups", stinking liquid manure turns into seed bombs, rubbish is transformed into greenhouses - and somewhere between chaos, courage and a flood of wild ideas, something completely unexpected takes shape: a living, participatory garden that tells you more about nature and community than any perfect teaching garden ever could.
With plenty of humour, music, imagination and surprising twists, this theatre show makes the case that nature sometimes grows best precisely when not everything is perfectly planned.
"Help, the Herdmanns Are Gardening" is a riotous theatrical adventure about courage, chaos, friendship and one big question: how does the future actually grow?
A lively theatre production for school classes in years 3-6, inviting audiences to laugh, wonder and think along. A show about nature, sustainability and the power of unconventional ideas.
