JMO - Jan Galega Brönnimann - Moussa Cissokho - Omri Hason - Nia Yelle (Open Your Eyes) — Kulturforum Lüneburg, Lüneburg

JMO: three countries - one language!

Moussa Cissokho: kora, vocals
Jan Galega Brönnimann: bass clarinet, soprano saxophone
Omri Hason: percussion, hang

To mark their 10th anniversary, Jan Galega Brönnimann, Moussa Cissokho and Omri Hason present their third album "I Nia Yelle". In Mandinka, the language of a West African ethnic group, it means: Open Your Eyes. JMO stands not only for the initials of the three musicians but also for the three main influences in their music: Jazz - Mandinka - Orient.

Their first two albums "Al nge taa" and "Dandoula Tala" were celebrated internationally by press and audiences alike, have already reached a third edition and sold over 5,000 copies.

The music of JMO - Jan Galega Brönnimann (Switzerland), Moussa Cissokho (Senegal) and Omri Hason (Israel) - revives the art of storytelling. The crystal-clear sound of the kora (a traditional African bridge harp with 22 strings) meets the sonorous, smoky tones of the bass clarinet, supported by Omri Hason's varied percussion instruments. The interplay of Moussa Cissokho, Jan Galega Brönnimann and Omri Hason captivates with beautiful melodies and rhythmic elegance - in concert, the trio moves between magically transfigured moments and rhythmically explosive peaks. The result is an authentic and contemporary chamber music.

The trio crosses boundaries between traditional and modern sounds from Africa, Europe and the Orient. The repertoire comes from all three musicians and reflects their diverse influences. The meeting of three cultures, the choice of instruments and the rich store of ideas, melodies and rhythms make each performance a remarkable listening experience.
