JMO - Jan Galega Brönnimann, Moussa Cissokho and Omri Hason - celebrate their 10-year anniversary with the release of their third album "I Nia Yelle (Open Your Eyes)". The title means in Mandinka, the language of an ethnic group in West Africa, simply: Open your eyes. JMO stands not only for the initials of the three musicians, but also for the three main influences of their music: Jazz - Mandinka - Orient.

Line-up: Moussa Cissokho (kora, vocals), Jan Galega Brönnimann (bass clarinet, soprano saxophone), Omri Hason (percussion, hang). Moussa Cissokho belongs to the 42nd generation of the kora dynasty and griot family Cissokho, which has shaped West African musical tradition for over 1000 years. His lyrics speak of longing, mysterious rivers and experiences at European borders. The first two albums "Al nge taa" and "Dandoula Tala" have already been released in a third edition and sold over 5000 copies.

The trio combines the clear sound of the kora - a traditional African harp with 22 strings - with the smoky tones of the bass clarinet and Omri Hason's percussion. The repertoire comes from all three musicians and reflects their different cultural backgrounds: Jan Galega Brönnimann (Switzerland), Moussa Cissokho (Senegal), Omri Hason (Israel). Over the past ten years, JMO has performed in Japan, France, Israel, Slovakia, the Netherlands, Germany, Spain, England, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Austria, Moldova, Czech Republic, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Italy, Romania, Slovenia, Norway and Switzerland.
