Abweichungen erschreiben - Kay Matter and Jayrôme C. Robinet
Literaturhaus Stuttgart, Germany
Reading and conversation with Kay Matter and Jayrôme C. Robinet
The intensity of debates about body norms and gender identity reveals how urgent the questions of individual self-determination remain in our time. At stake are self-perception and how others perceive us, the understanding of roles in social and private spheres, as well as legal and grammatical conventions. Literature, in particular, can not only convey lived experience but also open up new intellectual and linguistic perspectives. Kay Matter and Jayrôme C. Robinet have created texts that move between autofictional introspection and engaged essay writing. Matter's "Muskeln aus Plastik" and Robinet's "Mein Weg von einer weißen Frau zu einem jungen Mann mit Migrationshintergrund" reveal how closely trans* identities are interwoven with migration, care, and precarious health.
The event is supported by the Professional School of Education Stuttgart-Ludwigsburg and the Institute for Literary Studies at the University of Stuttgart.
