Das Mixtape - World Premiere

A relationship revue with the soundtrack of the 80s

Kathy and Lenny are getting divorced. While clearing out their shared apartment, they discover an old mixtape they recorded together as a young couple in the 80s: she recorded side A, he recorded side B. Back then they were deeply in love. Now they both want to keep the tape and won't let the other have it. So they decide to battle for it. In the process, they ask themselves - half-seriously - whether they should have kept listening to 80s music. Would they have stayed together as a couple if they had?

They try it out. Playfully and dancing, they relive the important stages of their relationship and battle over the cassette - this time set to the songs from the mixtape. By the end, it's not just a question of who gets to keep the mixtape. It's also whether the music of the 80s could have saved their love.

An entertaining evening of nostalgic time travel - from Just like Heaven through Blaue Augen to Such a Shame. And overarching it all is Pat Benatar's insight: Love is a battlefield.
