ŞEYDA KURT & MARIA POPOV - Book Premiere "Zeit der Monster"
Heimathafen Neukölln, Berlin, Germany
Şeyda Kurt, an award-winning essayist and cultural critic, presents her debut novel at a book premiere event in Berlin's Heimathafen Neukölln, joined in conversation by journalist Maria Popov. The book is "Zeit der Monster" - a genre-blending work described as pop fiction, social novel, and tragicomedy.
The setting is a city neighbourhood. The time is the apocalypse - or so a growing number of people believe, driven by a prophecy racing through the internet. Through the wild, broken quarter where people still stick together, young Sanya roams with a pistol in her backpack, until one day she encounters a strange figure.
Somewhere between furious epic and vivid pop, between existential opera and warm soap opera, Şeyda Kurt asks what possibilities emerge when all order collapses. Sanya and her colourful chosen family are deeply entangled in the far-reaching history of their community, stretching across borders and time.
The novel is expected to be published by Hanser Verlag in late July 2026.
