Risa Toho studied organ at the Tokyo University of the Arts under Prof. Rie Hiroe, receiving several awards for her musical achievements. After her bachelor's degree she served as an intern organist at Yokohama Minatomirai Hall in Japan and appeared as soloist in a performance of Joseph Jongen's Symphonie Concertante with the Geidai Philharmonia Orchestra Tokyo.

She completed her master's degree in organ in Freiburg under Prof. Matthias Maierhofer with distinction and a DAAD scholarship. In 2022 she received a Meiji Yasuda Cultural Foundation scholarship and won prizes at the organ competitions "Maria Hofer" (2nd prize, 2022), Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy (3rd prize, 2023), and Musashino Tokyo (2nd prize and audience prize, 2023). In 2024 she was awarded the "Hermann Schroeder Sonderpreis" and admitted to the Rohm Music Foundation.

In 2025, Risa Toho took 3rd prize at the international "Faszination Orgel" competition in Mannheim and won 1st prize.
