Hendrik Eichler - Manic Anomaly

Hendrik Eichler's Manic Anomaly brings together an international quintet of standout voices from the European jazz scene. The Cologne-based drummer and composer is joined by Angelika Niescier (saxophone), Kirke Karja (piano/synth), Teis Semey (guitar) and Louise van den Heuvel (bass) - an ensemble that deliberately pushes past musical boundaries.

The band draws its inspiration from science-fiction worlds in literature, film and television - from Star Trek and Isaac Asimov's Foundation saga to Predator, Tron and beyond. From these sources, the group builds its own sonic vision of the future, of space and transformation. These influences run deep, shaping the music as an imagining of unknown territories, new orders and encounters with the incomprehensible.

Listeners are taken on a journey through such sonic worlds - past alien planets, unstable space-time zones and cosmic phenomena. The music weaves modern jazz together with electronic textures, cinematic soundscapes and pulsing rhythms, moving between suspended, floating moments and eruptive outbursts.

Each voice operates like its own navigation system: at times precise, at times searching, at times explosive. Together they produce a sound that is both controlled and unpredictable - an open, constantly shifting musical system.
