CLASSICS

"The recorder is not exactly the coolest of all musical instruments. But Tobias Reisige and 'Wildes Holz' are dusting off its image." (WDR)

The trio Wildes Holz made its name by playing rock and pop on "proper" instruments - and those are, of course, wooden ones. The humble recorder takes centre stage, lending this music a character all its own.

If it works with rock classics, it should work even better with the "real" classics. So Wildes Holz turns to Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, Vivaldi, Brahms and Telemann - playing their works as if they were rock anthems. Which, in a way, they are. Delivered with woody humour, virtuosity and a healthy dose of self-deprecation, the results are remarkable.

The trio has been performing on stages large and small across Germany for 25 years - and has become something of a classic itself.
