The FIFA World Cup captivates millions of people around the globe. It tells stories of great emotions, surprising twists, and unforgettable moments - while also directing attention to the future of the sport. What lies ahead for football tomorrow? Who shapes it - on the pitch, in the clubs, and in society?
Together with Laura Dick and Dr. Andreas Pitz, a board member of the Badischen Fußballverbands e.V., we discuss football as a social force and why it moves people worldwide. From different perspectives, both guests examine the future of the sport: the importance of sustainable youth development, clubs as places of community and personal growth, and how young players can be supported and nurtured today.
The conversation also covers diversity and inclusion in football, the growing significance of women's and girls' football as a natural part of vibrant football culture, and the role of federations, volunteering, and civic engagement in advancing the sport. We also discuss what impulses major tournaments can provide to grassroots and youth football, and how enthusiasm for professional football translates into long-term commitment in local clubs.
Finally, the discussion returns to the World Cup final: what makes such a match a global event? What stories will this tournament leave behind? And what future do we want for football - as a sport, as a community, and as a social space?
Since 2018, Laura Dick has been the goalkeeper for TSG Hoffenheim and is widely recognized as the team's undisputed starting goalkeeper in the Bundesliga. She began her career at FV Fischbach and TSG Jägersfreude. At the national level, Dick has already achieved major success: she progressed through all of the German Football Association's junior national teams.
