Eva Illouz - Do we have the Right to be Offended?
DAI Heidelberg, Germany
15.9 €
Eva Illouz examines contemporary conflicts around freedom of speech and moral sensitivity. She investigates two competing models of free speech: one that defends free speech as a central democratic principle, and another that emphasizes protection from harm and exclusion. She asks how liberal societies navigate these tensions and what this means for public debate and our shared life together.
Prof. Dr. Eva Illouz conducts research and teaches at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem on emotions, capitalism, culture, communication, and the cultural dimensions of their intersections. In 2018, she received the EMET Prize for Sociology.
