"Tous sur la banquise" ("All on the Ice Floe") centres on the lives of emperor penguins and the climate change that threatens their existence - and ultimately ours. Drawing on the remarkable social behaviour of these animals, the piece turns a lens on our own society and its structures: in the penguins, we search for a humanity that seems to grow rarer by the day. They reflect back what defines us as human beings - and what we may be willingly letting go.
The production weaves together dance, music, language and scenography, moving between a concrete portrayal of animal life and an abstract interpretation through movement, text and sound. The result is an open interpretive space that asks how the human body meets the challenges of our present moment.
