As a child, Cheng Tsung-Lung, artistic director of Cloud Gate, was captivated by his mother's stories about a legendary street performer of the 1960s known as "Thirteen Tongues". Thirty years later, those childhood memories became the inspiration for this dance piece of the same name.

The score accompanying "13 Tongues" - opening and closing with the sound of a single hand bell - spans Taiwanese folk songs, Taoist chants, and electronica. The stage is flooded with projections of vivid colours, shapes, and imagery as the dancers gather, separate, and find each other again. Past and present merge into a compelling portrait of Taipei's vibrant street life.

HELLERAU - Europäisches Zentrum der Künste is a historic arts centre in the garden city of Hellerau, Dresden's first garden city district. The Festspielhaus, built in 1911 by Heinrich Tessenow, was originally home to the Dalcroze Institute and became a pioneering stage for rhythm, dance and theatrical reform in early 20th-century Europe. Today it hosts contemporary dance, performance, theatre and interdisciplinary festivals, drawing artists and companies from across the continent.
