Studies on Infinity - Nudity and Landscape

With Studies on Infinity - Nudity and Landscape, Isabelle Schad continues her long-term research into movement materialities and their potential for infinite variation and interconnection. Her investigation into nudity and landscape as a relationship between self and group, between bodily presence, skin and environment, began with the work Pieces and Elements in 2016. The continuity of skin from one body to another reflects an understanding of the self as something that extends and mirrors itself through others and through our surroundings. It is an energetic principle following the law of attraction: a mirror reflects back, resonates with, and draws in what is sent out - and vice versa.

Drawing on principles rooted in Zen, somatics, Qi Gong, Aikido and breathing techniques, the choreographic material is detached from any classical stage context and presented as an installative durational performance. Individual sequences and motifs are extracted, recombined and re-created, letting details emerge as miniatures of flow. Sculptures and forms appear and dissolve, inviting visitors into a heightened sensory experience. The audience is welcomed to inhabit a space where theatrical conventions blur and give way to something timeless.
