The Redhouse Hot Six
When Louis Armstrong left New Orleans for Chicago in 1922 to play in King Oliver's band, when whiskey was drunk from teacups and cigarettes smoked through long carved holders, when ladies' skirts and hairstyles grew shorter - that was when hot jazz was born, the distinctive style that the REDHOUSE HOT SIX from Freiburg have made their own.
Louis Armstrong, King Oliver and of course Duke Ellington are the guiding spirits when the band gets going. Or, as one witness put it: "The band was simply unstoppable... the whole place was one seething cauldron... I had the feeling the roof was about to lift off!" (quote)
Come ready to be surprised and swept up in a refined rush of seriously good music.
