Theater Fritz und Freunde brings the beloved children's story "Urmel aus dem Eis" to the stage - a tale that became world-famous through the Augsburger Puppenkiste film adaptation, now performed by real actors.
The story is set on the island of Titiwu, where the somewhat absent-minded Professor Tibatong lives in peace and harmony with his housekeeper pig Wutz, Ping the penguin, Wawa the monitor lizard, and the perpetually "sad" sea elephant Seele-fant.
The professor has taught all the animals to speak, but every one of them - except Wutz - has a speech impediment. That is why Titiwu has a language school for animals. One day, a giant prehistoric egg washes ashore. Out of it hatches a strange ancient creature: the cheeky and loveable Urmel. Urmel brings great joy to everyone, but when King Pumponell hears of its existence and arrives on the island, the peace is shattered. He wants to hunt Urmel down...
A stage play based on the book by Max Kruse
Directed by Herbert Fischer
