Nico Cleemann Trio meets Jellyfish Jazz Orchestra

This double bill brings together two versatile ensembles from the north German jazz scene: the Nico Cleemann Trio and the Jellyfish Jazz Orchestra. A natural link between them is Rostock pianist Nico Cleemann, who performs with his own trio and is also a member of the Jellyfish Jazz Orchestra.

The Nico Cleemann Trio consists of Rostock jazz pianist Nico Cleemann, bassist Andreas Böhm, and Chemnitz drummer Toni Müller. Their programme centres on original compositions rooted in fusion jazz - sharp melodies meeting inventive harmonies, catchy grooves, and extended improvisations. The result is a varied set that balances musical sophistication with spontaneous energy and lively interplay.

The Jellyfish Jazz Orchestra was founded in 2008 by twenty young jazz-loving musicians from Wismar and the surrounding area. The big band covers the full range of big-band jazz, performing works by Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Bob Mintzer, and Pat Metheny, alongside modern vocal numbers, pieces outside the classic big-band canon, and original compositions. Their musical breadth and evident joy of playing make them equally appealing to seasoned jazz fans and first-time listeners.
