Isi and Rainer are not exactly the most desirable tenants. For fifty years everyone has called them Easy&Rider, and they are genuine, dyed-in-the-wool hippies. Careers and housekeeping never interested them as much as weed, Janis Joplin, and free love. The trouble is, after receiving notice to vacate due to the landlord's personal use, they have to leave their cosy flat. On Karlsruhe's tough rental market, these eccentric pensioners would stand no chance - if their granddaughter hadn't quickly suggested a makeover. The ageing hippies reinvent themselves as a wealthy artist couple with their own gallery in New York. And it actually works - until their entire chaotic family suddenly wants to move into the swanky apartment on Gutenbergplatz.
