Schlager, Dance and a Thousand Dreams - Open Air at the Garden Theatre Oberhausen

Following "Toast Hawaii" and "Schlager lügen nicht", the ensemble of Theater an der Niebuhrg sets off on another journey through the decades. The new production "Schlager, Tanz und 1000 Träume" takes audiences through four decades in one go.

The show spans from the Schlager hits of the 1950s right up to the present day, casting a wry eye on the quirks of each era.

The acting and singing cast is joined by a four-person dance ensemble that brings each musical style to life through movement.

The plot: a husband who forgot his wedding anniversary, a justifiably furious wife, a son in a row with his girlfriend... As if that weren't enough, the whole family gets locked in the basement by a broken door. Surrounded by old photo albums, vinyl records and a pile of odds and ends from years gone by, they patch things up and embark on a trip into the past.

The finest Schlager songs from four decades accompany a family story - memories come alive and the past suddenly feels very close.

The new show, written by Thomas Schiffmann ("Toast Hawaii", "Schlager lügen nicht", "Sommer der Liebe") and produced by Holger Hagemeyer, is a lighthearted time-travel comedy at Theater an der Niebuhrg.
