A baroque concert with a twist: Mostly Baroque, Romanticism, Humor and Opera Highlights by and with Johan Hartman

On Thursday, August 6, 2026 at 7:30 PM, the iconic Französischer Dom on Berlin's Gendarmenmarkt transforms into a stage for an extraordinary concert. Bass-baritone Johan Hartman shines not only as a singer but also as a composer, drawing the audience into the world of Romanticism, seducing them with moonlight and solitude into dreams and laughter.

Johan Hartman is accompanied at the piano by Ailsa Aitkenhead. The duo has already celebrated triumphant successes at the legendary Edinburgh Fringe Festival. In atmospheric songs set to poems by W.B. Yeats and Robert Browning, the themes are peace and solitude, blood in moonlight, and wicked old men. They are joined by songs from Schubert's "Schöne Müllerin" and Ibert's "Don Quichotte," as well as opera arias.
