Balkan-Ball Open Air with Maslband & Bettina Pinkert
Kulturhaus Schwanen, Waiblingen, Germany
10 €
On Tuesday, 28 July 2026, as part of Schwanen Sommer Open Air, Balkan-Ball Vol. 3 takes place: under the walnut tree, there will be Balkan music, free dancing, and guided East European circle dances - live with Maslband, accordion enhanced by Frank Eisele, plus dance instruction from Bettina Pinkert (starts 19:00, ends 21:30). If you enjoy movement, sweat, and that brief moment of "we are for a moment one shared circle" - this is the right place for you, whether you are dancing for the first time or you already have experience.
Maslband has been playing together for many years and draws their repertoire from across Southeast Europe: Roma songs, klezmer, Sinti swing, dances from Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia, North Macedonia, and Albania. The music shifts temperature like July weather: cheerful and lively, rhythmically intricate, then peaceful and melancholic again - and suddenly driving, as if someone had rearranged the ground beneath your feet. "Masl" means luck in Yiddish, and that is exactly how this mix feels: handmade, intimate, playful, and open-eared.
Bettina Pinkert guides step by step through simple circle dances for beginners and more complex sequences for those who want to go deeper. In between: free dancing, watching, gentle swaying, a quick breath, back into the dance. In case of thunderstorm or heavy rain, the evening moves to the Schwanensaal.
