KOMOCO

Italian choreographer Sofia Nappi is among the most sought-after voices in contemporary dance. Trained at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre in New York, her work is also shaped by Gaga - the movement language of Israeli choreographer Ohad Naharin. In 2022, she founded the dance company KOMOCO, which has since received multiple awards for its choreographies.

For the dance piece "Chora", Nappi collaborated with the Stuttgart Dance Festival COLOURS and Theater Winterthur. The title draws from the ancient Greek concept chōra, which in Plato's philosophy denotes a place or space as a receptacle for being. Seven dancers of KOMOCO explore, accompanied by pulsing sound design, the origin of all creative creation.
