KOMOCO — Burghof Lörrach, Lörrach

Italian choreographer Sofia Nappi is one of the rising stars of the international dance scene. She trained at the renowned Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre in New York, among other institutions. Her artistic practice is also influenced by Gaga, the distinctive movement language of Israeli dance master Ohad Naharin. In 2022, Nappi founded the contemporary dance company KOMOCO, which she has directed ever since and for which she has received multiple awards for her choreography.

In collaboration with Stuttgart's COLOURS Dance Festival and Theater Winterthur, she created the dance piece "Chora". The title derives from the ancient Greek term chōra, which in Plato's philosophy denotes a place or space as the receptive field for being. Sofia Nappi and her dancers explore nothing less than the beginning of art itself. Accompanied by pulsing sound design, this energetic ensemble embarks on a dance journey in search of the origins of all creative creation.
