Lebenlifehayat! /UA - Arad Dabiri / 15+ — Hessisches Landestheater Marburg, Marburg

A child in the center, sleeping, silent. Around it, a chorus that swears to an impending ritual: the child must be sacrificed, reason must triumph over compassion, the community must be saved through sacrifice. Then the child wakes. It speaks, questions, accuses: What value does a society have that believes it needs the brutal exclusion of others to survive? Where does the urge come from to organize shared life like an allotment garden?

From an archaic foundational situation, Arad Dabiri lets us glimpse the status quo of humanistic principles in the world. The text, rich in associations, leads through myths like the Garden of Eden to show that people will only succeed in creating an earthly paradise if they imagine this peaceful place for everyone, without borders. LEBENLIFEHAYAT!

LEBENLIFEHAYAT! is a long poem, it is a long-overdue cry in a world that is already burning, but in which the spark of hope has also been ignited, where the search for future narratives has begun: this is a new beginning, a restart.

The piece was selected as part of the "Future Narratives for Planet Earth" open call at the Hessian State Theatre Marburg. "Future Narratives for Planet Earth" is a multi-year EU project with various partner organizations across Europe. The world premiere will take place at the Hessian State Theatre Marburg, and in 2026 the piece will also tour in Leuven, Belgium, and Graz, Austria.

For everyone aged 12 and up who are curious about future narratives and visions for the world.
