KIKERIKI THEATER at Bürgerhaus in Neu-Anspach - "Siegfrieds Nibelungenentzündung"

Following productions such as "Goggelores", "Erwin - ein Schweineleben", "Himmel, Arsch und Zwirn", "Watzmänner", "Ur-Rumbelstilzje", "Die Akte Schneewittchen" and "Achtung Oma!", February brings "Siegfrieds Nibelungenentzündung"!

The "old crew" around Roland Hotz, the theatre's founder, takes the stage. As he and several colleagues are set to retire in the coming years, this is a rare chance to catch the veterans one more time.

"Siegfrieds Nibelungenentzündung" is a medieval fool's spectacle tracing the life and death of the fair-haired hero Siegfried of Xanten. The source material is the Nibelungenlied, a heroic epic compiled around 1200 AD from various legends, padded out with half-truths and "Teutonic" wishful thinking.

The puppets are irreverently cobbled together from old kitchen appliances, tin cans, bicycle parts and assorted junk. Carried on long poles like halberds, they ironically underscore the saga's mock-heroic content.
