Writers Thursday Special

The literary salon "Writers' Thursday", run by journalist and author Rainer Schmidt in Berlin above the legendary Borchardt restaurant, has become the most coveted literary event in the capital. Here, several authors read short, striking excerpts from their works.

Special attention is always paid to the relationship between literature and music. Musicians are inspired by literature, authors by music - pop culture plays an important role in many novels. The boundaries between artists from the fields of music and literature blur.

This fits perfectly with the Harbour Front Literature Festival, and so in October, for the second time in Hamburg, there is a major "Writers' Thursday Special". Among the guests are Judith Holofernes, Alexa Hennig von Lange and Mille Petrozza, frontman of "Kreator". They read from their books and discuss together the interplay of their arts.

Judith Holofernes (born 1976) is a musician, lyricist and author. She became known as the singer, guitarist and songwriter of "Wir sind Helden", one of the most influential German-language bands of the 2000s. Since the band's hiatus, she has worked solo and published literary texts. Her autobiographical books "Die Träume anderer Leute" and "Hummelhirn" were recently published.

Alexa Hennig von Lange (born 1973) is a writer. With her debut novel "Relax" in 1997, she became one of the most famous authors of her generation. She writes novels, young adult books and theatre texts. In her "Heimkehr" trilogy, she combines personal family history with German contemporary history. In 2026, her novel "Alte Pfade" will be published.

Mille Petrozza (born 1967) is a musician, singer, guitarist and songwriter. For more than forty years he has led Kreator, one of the internationally best-known German thrash metal bands. In 2025, his autobiography "Your", co-written with Torsten Groß, was published.
